Shinrin-yoku and Reiki
Shinrin-yoku is the Japanese health and healing art of Forest Bathing and a term associated with Forest Therapy. A recent post on Instagram from the Synthesis Institute suggests the idea of spending time in nature and as a health and healing method today known as "Shinrin-yoku" began in the 1980's with Scientific Studies confirming it's health benefits.
Studies with participants who spent 3 days and 2 nights Forest Bathing experienced significantly lower levels of cortisol a stress hormone and saw a 50% increase in natural killer cells which play a crucial role in immunity and the expression of anti-cancer proteins.
Reiki is also a fascinating Japanese health and healing art which started in 1922 and is known for it's safe and effective hands on practice as well as the alternative method where the Practitioner performs distance healing, a service which can be fulfilled remotely. Reiki is performed by a qualified practitioner using a variety of techniques and different hands on natural healing methods such as massage, acupressure and from a more spiritual aspect zazen meditation, incorporating the methods passed down by the founder Mikao Usui Sensi.
Reiki can also be used for Self Care and Self Healing making it a useful skill set to have for self care, first aid situations and to either help yourself or others back to health and homeostasis. Personally I practice Reiki for Self Care and Personal Wellness on a day to day basis.
Since both of these health and healing modalities exude simplicity and are easy to apply, together Shinrin-yoku and Reiki compliment each other and both can be utilized and practiced together as a means to maintain or improve personal wellness and take part in healthy activities.
Both Health and Healing Modalities have been proven to improve or enhance health and wellness
