The Nature and Essence of Reiki

The simplicity of Reiki is what makes this gentle Japanese healing art easy to learn and understand.

When I learned about Reiki for the first time, I was really curious as to how it would be possible to use hands on healing as a means to better health and recovery, but I had never considered becoming a practitioner until some years later when I had a very surprising and unexpected experience with my dog Leo.

Leo at that time was a suffering from digestive issues and had developed other health issues in his old age. He had been bothered a lot with seizures which often made him tired and he could often cause injury to himself. I felt so helpless, as there was not much I could do, then one day, while comforting him I felt a strange sensation in the palm of my hand it was a subtle sensation very different from physical touch, I was standing about 2 feet away from him when I experienced the uncomfortable prickly energetic feeling in the palm of my hand. I didn't give it much thought at the time except I knew from the experience that we are energetically entangled some how or in some way and knowing that: I was hopeful that I might have made a difference in some way.

Sadly, I did not have the skills to treat Leo with Reiki at the time, however it was shortly after his passing and in 2015 that I found the opportunity to learn, starting with Level 1 and then later in 2019 I decided to re-sit Level 1 and complete Level 2 and become a full time Reiki Practitioner.

This strange and unexpected experience with my dog is what made me look deeper with a knowing that learning more about Reiki would not only be worthy of my time and effort to learn but also with a knowing that it might come in useful in the future.

It's sometimes hard for me to believe that it's been almost 10 years now since I have been practicing Reiki and I'm so grateful to have learned these skills..

Since becoming a certified and qualified Jikiden Reiki Practitioner in 2019, I have helped to treat many people with various different complaints or health issues both in person with hands on treatment and remotely using distance healing methods and all clients and case studies have shown positive results.

There are many different methods of Reiki as is many different ways to apply certain techniques, however; The simplicity of Reiki is what makes this gentle Japanese healing art easy to learn and understand.

I also practice Reiki as a form of self care and personal wellness and because Reiki works on an energetic level, Reiki is good for balancing the central nervous system and helps to bring about calm, peacefulness and clarity.

From a personal perspective: I use Reiki every day for self care and maintenance, when I'm not treating clients. I've used Reiki to assist with all kinds of healing from lower back pain to head injuries, deep wounds, minor cuts, muscle pain, joint pain and more.

I am constantly thinking of new ideas that can also assist and compliment Reiki in terms of "Reiki for Self Care". Reiki and (Shinrin-yoku) Forest Bathing or Forest Therapy compliment each other well and I've been planning and organising some wellness activities around Reiki and other Holistic Wellness, Health and Healing Modalities.

I'll post more information about "Wellness Events" in other blog posts, members can also find out more about events by visiting the website and joining our Facebook Group and Telegram Chat.

I believe that everyone should at least learn the basics of Reiki at least for the purpose of self care and it can also come in useful for first aid and recovery, either for yourself or to help treat or assist others.

As you have already gathered from reading this post, Reiki works with both humans and animals too, so it could come in useful with your pets.

The Nature and Essence of Reiki is "All life is energetically entangled, We are simply energy".
